On behalf of our Association, The Insurance Women of Southwest Virginia, I would like to welcome you. I hope that you find our Blog of assistance to you and that you can learn about us from it.
We are a local chapter of National Association of Insurance Women or NAIW for short. We accept persons who work in the Insurance Industry, whether it be as an Agent, CSR, Secretary, Adjuster, Underwriter, etc. all are welcome to join.
We meet on the 3rd Thursday of each month at 6:30 pm, with the exception of July, at many various local, locations. We try to keep our meals under $15 dollars.
Our organization does many community services. We always sponsor a person/family at Christmas, teach a program called "Learn Not To Burn" for pre-school and elementary aged children, read to summer school children, visit local nursing homes, and help educate our local teens on alcohol and drug abuse.
We also, because of our organization, are provided with many different means to be able to assist, you, the customer better. Because of our orgainization we are promoted to form friendships with the other members-creating a network of alliances within other competitive agencies, thus making transitions, underwriting, and product variety superior.
NAIW, also makes education (CE) more available and cost efficient. The more educational opportunities at our hand, the better our job performance can be. We are pursuaded to take part in all of the different courses available to NAIW members. We have programs called: CWC-a communication enhancement program, it builds self-esteem and stimulates the mind to speak more fluently; Underwriting for Non-Underwriters-Very beneficial for the Customer Service Representative this teaches basic rules and guidelines for the different lines of insurance. There are many other programs that is offered and the list keeps growing.

Toddler's Information Kept for Emergencies is a program founded by the Virginia Council of Insurance Women for information that could be life saving in the event of an accident for a child. This is a sticker that you fill out and place, as directed, underneath (so that window visibility is impossible) the safety restraint seat so that Emergency workers can identify the child and notify the gaurdian of the child.
